Once again American Top Charts are ruled by a country singer. Kenny Chesney surpassed Drake`s mixtape in sales across the states. And it happened in the same week we lost Little Richard and Betty Wright. Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber published a duet for charity, and the data shows that music is by far the most viewed content on Youtube. 

But we have a question for you; Have you been visiting Deezer or Apple Music lately? We highly recommend adding albums by Croatian musicians to your virtual music libraries. By doing that, not only do you help Croatian musicians, but you also get an excellent (no commercial) music listening experience, unlike the one provided by Youtube.

Across the globe, sales in music have been on an incline during the past 5 years, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Figures released in IFPI’s Global Music Report 2020 show total revenues for 2019 were US$20.2 billion. Streaming revenue is 56.1% of global total. Meaning more than half of revenue is due to streaming! We know streaming is accessible to Croatian music lovers as well. We get to enjoy music through streaming services Deezer and Apple Music, as well as over the radio. There we get to listen to the best radio show of Croatian music, Incubator of good music.

Three hours a day- that`s the amount of time spent listening to music nowadays. That means that a person listens to approximately 52 songs on average every day! Research shows that 89 percent of people use digital services to listen to music and in 2018, across the globe, we listened to the unbelievable amount of 4 billion songs on digital services.

The arrival of Apple Music in Croatia is big news. There you can find songs as well as other content. For example, you can listen to the new Rolling Stones song and check out the interview with Mick and Keith as well. They talked about the difference between the Stones and The Beatles along with stuff from everyday lives and their first new song in 15 years.

Today we`re talking about all the news coming from our music scene. We check out what`s new on HR Top 40 list, listen to bits from the album by Aljoša Šerić, lead singer of Pavel, called “Što ćemo raditi do kraja života?”. We`ll listen to songs performed by Marko Kutlić, Dina Rizvić, Mateo Pilat and Hladno pivo.

It was wonderful watching Band Aid of the digital generation – a virtual One world festival “Together at Home”. So much empathy, support for the doctors and the nurses, along with fantastic performances all in one place.  The festival was an eight hour marathon from which we`ll surely remember the excellent job done by Lady Gaga who organized the whole concert. The Rolling Stones`, Jennifer Hudson`s and Taylor Swift`s performances were memorable as well.

And what we fondly remember from our music history is definitely the work of Mišo Kovač. That`s why today we`re going through his album “Antologija”. We`ll listen to chosen singles from HR Top 40 and check out what`s new on the Croatian music scene. We`ll hear, among others, songs performed by Antonija Šola and Mario Roth, Kralja, Franka and Nina Basrić.

Have you already discovered just how much of new music you can find with just one click? There`s over 50 million songs on streaming services. We`re getting reports from the States showing us that in midst of the current pandemic, streaming has been getting more and more popular. Thanks to that, Drake achieved new records and took over the No 1 on American singles Top Charts with the song “Tootsie Slide”. And that brings us to the biggest news this week - Croatian Discographers Association (HDU) has a new Deezer profile that will satisfy music lovers all over! 

In this weeks episode we`ll talk about the new channel as well as Tedi Spalato`s new live album called “Sve ću preživit – u Lisinskom (Live)”.
